DriveWorks Product Automation
CAD Automation · Logic-Driven Design
Automated shop-drawing generation for 83 configurable lighting products by designing CAD models in SolidWorks and driving variables through logic in DriveWorks Pro.
SHOP-DRAWING TIME FOR EACH ORDER LINE

Artifacts
Selected outputs from the project — videos, generated drawings, code, and stakeholder decks.
Problem
Engineers were re-drawing the same families of fixtures order after order. Average shop drawing took 1.3 hours of skilled CAD time per product, throttling submittal lead times on high-mix orders.
Approach
- Modeled 83 products in SolidWorks with parametric, variable-driven geometry
- Built DriveWorks Pro rules to map customer configurations to CAD outputs
- Centralized version-controlled product data in SolidWorks PDM
- Created CAD + data test suites validated before each production deployment
Outcome
Shop-drawing creation collapsed from a skilled bottleneck to a near-instant generated artifact, freeing engineering to focus on new product introduction.
